Vincenzo Palermo is a research director at the National Research Council (CNR) at the Institute of Organic Synthesis and Photoreactivity (ISOF) in Bologna, Italy. He is also an associate professor at Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden). He uses nanotechnology and supramolecular chemistry to create new materials for electronic, aerospace, and biomedical applications. He has published over 220 scientific articles in international journals on chemistry, nanotechnology, and materials science, collaborating with major industrial partners in Europe (Airbus, Stellantis, Leonardo, BASF, Nokia, STMicroelectronics, etc.). In the past, he has coordinated several EU projects and was deputy director and member of the executive committee of the Graphene Flagship, one of the largest research projects ever funded in Europe. He has received the Lecturer Award for Excellence from the Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS), the Research Award from the Italian Chemical Society (SCI), and various awards for scientific dissemination from the Italian Book Association. Since 2014 he writes as a columnist for the scientific magazine SAPERE and has published two books on the life and science of Albert Einstein (Hoepli, Milan, 2015) and Isaac Newton (Hoepli, Milan, 2016).
