When drones, satellites, sensors and artificial intelligence converge in a new experience of the territory

Emilia-Romagna Region Booth, Hall C1

Effective territorial management increasingly depends on the ability to integrate data from a wide range of sources, including satellites, drones, and ground-based sensors, with existing geographic and territorial information systems. This challenge is compounded not only by the diversity of data sources, but also by the fragmentation of the organisations that own and manage these datasets, such as regional and local authorities, environmental agencies, river basin authorities, and other public bodies. The REG4AI project, which brings together several Italian regions, aims to address these challenges through an approach based on data interoperability, high-performance computing, and artificial intelligence. At its core, the project explores whether valuable knowledge and actionable insights can be generated from distributed datasets while allowing data to remain under the control of their original owners. By doing so, REG4AI seeks to overcome administrative and organisational boundaries, enabling integrated analysis and more effective decision-making while fully respecting the principles of digital sovereignty, data governance, and data ownership.
