Alessio Grasso

Biography

Italian Air Force Brigadier General (ret.) Alessio Grasso served in the Armed Force from 1988 to 2021, specializing in operational management, airworthiness, procurement and international cooperation in the Defence sector. Since February 2021 he has been leading the Aerospace & Defence Business Unit at Dallara, where he focuses on the transfer of technologies and advanced processes from the motorsport sector to aerospace, space and Defence applications. Throughout his career he has held top-level positions, including Director of the Territorial Technical Offices of Naples and Milan of the Directorate of Aeronautical Armaments and Airworthiness, overseeing procurement and testing activities for the Italian Air Force and the Government Surveillance of industries working for the Defence of Northern (North-East), Central and Southern Italy. He previously led the Industrial Participation Office for the JSF Programme, served as Deputy Defence and Defence Cooperation Attaché at the Italian Embassy in Washington, managing Defence procurement through FMS and DCS channels, and contributed to the definition of important international airworthiness standards within NATO and the European Defence Agency, particularly in the field of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA). An aeronautical engineer and aircraft accident investigator, he has combined operational experience on transport fleets (C‑130J, C‑27J) with high-level responsibilities in the regulatory, normative and industrial coordination fields.
