Andrea Liscio

Biography

Andrea Liscio is a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Microelectronics and Microsystems of the Italian National Research Council (CNR-IMM), where his research focuses on advanced functional materials and the interplay between nanoscale structure, interfaces and electronic properties. His work spans graphene-based and two-dimensional materials, semiconducting nanostructures, and advanced characterization of surfaces and interfaces. He has developed scanning probe microscopy approaches for the quantitative investigation of electronic properties at the nanoscale and has contributed to major European research initiatives in graphene and emerging electronic materials. His activities also extend to space research. He conceived and coordinated PING (droP Impact iN micro-Gravity), a CNR experiment flown aboard Virgin Galactic's Galactic 01 suborbital mission in 2023 to investigate droplet impact and adhesion on microstructured surfaces under microgravity. He also contributed as a scientific consultant to research activities associated with the Axiom-3 mission, focused on advanced materials for radiation shielding in space. His interests bridge fundamental materials science, microelectronics, advanced characterization and technologies for extreme environments.
