Andrea Zappettini

Biography

Director, Institute of Matrials for Electronics and Magnetism of the National Research Council (CNR-IMEM)

Andrea Zappettini got a degree in Physics and a master in Material Science at the University of Parma. After working for Eni and Pirelli, in 2001 he moved to Istituto Materiali per l’Elettronica e Magnetismo of the National Research Council (CNR-IMEM). He has been developing sensors based on novel and multifunctional materials: i) OECT for plant monitoring (bioristors), ii) textile integrated OECT for sweat monitoring, iii) gas sensors based on nanostructured metal oxides, iv) CZT-based X-ray detectors. In 2017 he received the IEEE-RTSD scientist award for lifetime achievements in the development of room temperature semiconductor detectors. He is author of more than 250 scientific papers on international journals, cited more than 7500 times, h-index 43 (source: scholar). He is also author of 14 International patents. Since 2019, he is Director of CNR-IMEM.
