Daniele Biron

Meteorology Office Deputy Head, he helps coordinate the policy of the Italian Air Force Meteorological Service for the Italian delegation in all participations with international agencies related to meteorology and space-based Earth observations: UN World Meteorological Organization, EUMETSAT, ECMWF and EUMETNET. He is also: advisor to the Italian delegation with the ESA Program Board - Earth Observation, co-coordinator of the COPERNICUS C3S NCP project and chair of EUMETSAT H-SAF project. MSc in Physics and PhD in Computer Science Engineering, he is a meteorologist and during his 26 years career he has been particularly involved in elaborating requirements and design of space systems for Earth observation and lightning detection by space borne assets and ground based networks. He was among the first to promote, within the Italian Air Force Meteorological Service, the development of a Space Weather monitoring and forecasting system in support of the Italian Defence.
