Davide Loiacono

Davide Loiacono is Head of the Material Characterization Unit at newcleo, running the company's Advanced Characterization laboratory in Turin. He holds a PhD in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technologies from Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis on the development of irradiation-resistant protective coatings, following an MSc in Nuclear Engineering and a BSc in Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology. His work also centres on the theme that connects nuclear and space: radiation as the limiting factor for materials in extreme environments, and materials qualification as shared enabling infrastructure across both sectors.
