Lorenzo Scatena

Dr. Lorenzo Scatena is Secretary General of the E. Amaldi Foundation and innovation entrepreneur, with a well-established experience in the creation and development of high technology-intensive entrepreneurial initiatives, in venture capital and in technology transfer applied to the New Space Economy. Throughout his career he has worked to transform technologies, scientific expertise and research results into new ventures, investment opportunities and market applications. He is the creator of Primo Space, the first Italian venture capital fund dedicated to the Space Economy, contributing to the building of a specialized ecosystem for the financing and growth of start-ups and emerging technologies in the space sector. From 2017 to 2023 he served as Ambassador of the Business Applications programme of the European Space Agency, fostering the adoption of space technologies and assets in new industrial sectors and non-space markets. Previously Managing Director of the E. Amaldi Foundation, he led the Finance for Innovation and Business Applications activities; from 2008 he also served as Director General of the Hypatia Research Consortium. Founder and mentor of start-ups and technology accelerators, he combines managerial and financial experience with a solid scientific and industrial background: he is author and co-author of several scientific publications and holder of various patents in the field of advanced manufacturing and smart materials.
