Luigi Galimberti

Biography

Luigi Galimberti is an Italian entrepreneur and innovator specializing in the AgriTech sector, bioeconomy, and technology transfer applied to the agri-food and manufacturing industries. Active in the business world since 1994, he has always oriented his focus toward innovation, going on to create success stories in the agri-food sector and environmental sustainability. In 2015, he founded Sfera Agricola in Maremma, which has become one of the largest and most advanced hi-tech hydroponic greenhouses in Italy (13 hectares), designed to optimize the use of water resources and drastically reduce the use of pesticides. In 2022, he founded and took on the leadership role of ToSeed Partners, a holding company and venture builder focused on AgriFood Tech. • Objective: To create and promote innovative startups and identify high-potential patents or scientific solutions to transform into competitive businesses. • Role in Farming Future: Through ToSeed, Galimberti participates as an operational partner in Farming Future, the National Technology Transfer Hub for Agritech promoted by CDP Venture Capital, overseeing scouting, due diligence, and investment management activities in startups within the sector. He is the Executive President of ISIRES (Italian Institute for Research and Development), an organization focused on helping universities, research centers, and the industrial world accelerate the adoption of innovation in the industrial field. Scientific and regulatory focus: As coordinator within the working group dedicated to Agrifood at Assobiotec (Federchimica), he promotes research and regulation on TEA (Assisted Evolution Techniques / Genome Editing and cisgenesis) for the development of crops that are more resistant to climate change and diseases, as well as new technologies for food, cosmetics, and Pharma.
