Marco Lovera

Biography

Marco Lovera is Full Professor of Aerospace Control Systems at Politecnico di Milano, where he leads the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DAER) and coordinates the Aerospace Systems and Control Laboratory (ASCL). He conducts research and teaching activities in the field of dynamics and control of aerospace systems, with a particular focus on guidance, navigation and control of autonomous aircraft, satellites and space systems. His scientific work integrates methods of modelling, system identification, estimation, robust control and data-driven learning, with the aim of developing reliable technologies for complex systems operating under uncertainty. Throughout his career he has contributed to national and international research projects, collaborating with universities, agencies, institutions and companies in the aerospace sector. He is co-founder of the Drone and Advanced Air Mobility Observatory at Politecnico di Milano and of the spin-off company ANT-X, which is active in the development of autonomous systems and advanced solutions for aerial robotics. His most recent interests include the use of artificial intelligence in aeronautical and space systems, the safety and certification of autonomous technologies, advanced air mobility and the safe management of on-orbit operations. He is a member of the Scientific Committee and of the AI Task Force of EASA, contributing to the European dialogue on innovation, safety and regulation.
