Maria Libera Battagliere is an Aerospace Engineer and holds a PhD in Space Systems from Sapienza University of Rome. Since joining the Italian Space Agency (ASI) in 2010, she has worked across Earth Observation, downstream applications and Space Economy, contributing to the development of strategic programmes and initiatives at the intersection of space technology, innovation and policy. Since 2025, she has been leading ASI's Space and Blue initiative, fostering dialogue, technology transfer and new opportunities across the space and maritime ecosystems. Her work focuses on translating space capabilities into innovative solutions for emerging markets and societal challenges, while strengthening the strategic role of space in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
