Biography
Scientific Officer Space Economy Observatory, Politecnico di Milano
Full Professor of Flight Mechanics at the Politecnico di Milano, Department of Aerospace Science and Technology; chairs courses on space missions and systems design; she has been responsible for over 50 research projects, competitively awarded, with national and international Space Agencies and major industrial players in the sector. She is national expert for Cluster 4, destination 5 (Space) of Horizon Europe, appointed by the Ministry; she was an expert for the UPSA, (Space and Aerospace Policy Office) until 2025; she was a member of the HESAC-ESA advisory group for manned and unmanned space exploration; she was a member of the "Regional Forum for Research and Innovation" of the Lombardy region until 2025; in 2021-22 she was a member of the Advisor to the President of the Interministerial Committee for Space and Aerospace Policy and Expert for space issues at the Ministry of University and Research; she was part of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Space Agency and co-chaired the MDT for the NASA\CSA\JAXA\ASI Mars Ice Mapper mission; she is the Scientific Director of the PoliMi Space Observatory.
She leads the ASTRA research team and directs experimental laboratories that include a clean room for integrating space components, a darkroom for autonomous proximity navigation tests using images, and a facility for extracting water from lunar soil. She is responsible for some nanosatellite missions, from astrophysics (in orbit since 2025) to Earth observation and debris mitigation to the exploration of the solar system; participated in the LICIACube mission, embarked on the DART/NASA probe to the Didymos asteroid system; aaccording to Scopus she is author of 368 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and conferences with h-index-29.
