Michele Balsamo

Michele Balsamo is Research and Development Area Manager at Kayser Italia S.r.l., Livorno, Italy. Since 2014, he has been part of Kayser Italia's Research and Development team, supporting the development of space biology experiments and payloads, with a focus on the effects of the space environment on biological and physiological systems. He has contributed as Scientific Coordinator and Project Scientist to more than 50 space projects and missions, including payload integration and launch-site activities at NASA Johnson Space Center and Baikonur Cosmodrome, within projects supported by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Italian Space Agency (ASI). He is Work Package Manager for several projects funded by public and private institutions, including ASI and the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT). Dr. Balsamo is also a member of the Scientific and Steering Committees of the Italian Institute of Astrobiology – Network of National Astrobiology Laboratories.
