Roberto Della Ceca

Biography

Director of the INAF - Brera Astronomical Observatory

Roberto Della Ceca earned his PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics in 1993 at the University of Bologna and subsequently worked at the John Hopkins University (Baltimore, USA) until
his return to Italy. Since 1996, he has held a permanent position at the INAF-Osservatorio Astronomico di Brera in Milan. His main field of interest is high-energy astrophysics with,
primarily, studies related to supermassive black holes at the centers of galaxies. Currently a Research Director, during his career he has been:

- Professor of Space Physics at the University of Milan-Bicocca from 2004 to 2008;

- National Head of Space Project Management at the National Institute for Astrophysics (from October 2010 to December 2020);

- INAF member of the ASI-INAF Comitato Permanente Paritetico di Raccordo (from April 2011 to December 2020);

- INAF scientific advisor to the Italian delegation to the ESA Scientific Programme Committee (SPC) (from 2016 to 2024);

- member of the expert committee appointed by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MUR) to draft the Piano Nazionale della Ricerca (PNR) 2021-2027 for the "Aerospace" sector;

Author of approximately 170 publications in international refereed journals, he is now (since January 2021) Director of the INAF-Osservatorio Astronomico di Brera.
