Simonetta Di Pippo, astrophysicist, is Director of SEE Lab and Professor of Space Economy at SDA Bocconi, Visiting Professor at NYU Abu Dhabi, and former Director of UNOOSA, as well as Head of Human Spaceflight at ESA and Head of Universe Observation at ASI. She is the author of Space Economy – l’arena competitiva del futuro, Luna Laboratorio di Pace (EGEA) and Astronauti (Mursia), and a Full Member of the IAA who served on the WEF Global Future Council on Space until 2024.

Since July 2024, she has served as Chair of the Board of Directors at D-Orbit, and since May 2023 as a member of the Board of Directors of RINA S.p.A. She serves on the Scientific Committee of Criptaliae for the Grottaglie spaceport and on the Steering Committee of the Milan Metropolitan Observatory. Founder of WIA-Europe (2009) and UN International Gender Champion (2017), Asteroid 21887 bears her name. Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (OMRI) and recipient of the Austrian Grand Decoration of Honor and the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun (2022), she was the first woman to receive the Hubert Curien Award, was inducted into the IAF Hall of Fame, included in Forbes 50 Over 50 (2024), awarded the We-STEM Prize, and since 2025 serves on the Advisory Board of Blue Origin.
